Seventh-day Adventist Education in the New Zealand Pacific Union Conference is based upon a world view derived from the Christian Faith as held by Seventh-day Adventists. This view begins with an eternal, loving and personal God who has always existed, is all powerful, all knowing and is the source of all life, truth and beauty. (Revelation 1:8)
God the Father, through God the Son, and the enabling of the Holy Spirit created this world as part of His perfect universe. (Genesis 1; John 1:1-3) Furthermore, He sustains His creation by His power and through the natural laws He instituted. Although created perfect, this planet has been corrupted by sin, resulting in a world that is out of harmony with the rest of creation. (Genesis 1:27; Genesis 3) As a result, human motives, thinking, and behavior have fallen short of God’s ideal. (Romans 3:23) However, God has instituted plans to restore this world to its original perfection. (Genesis 3:15) In the person of Jesus Christ He revealed His character as the ultimate norm for human conduct. He revealed His love through Jesus death on the cross. (John 3:16, 17; Romans 6:23) He provided hope through the resurrection. (John 11:25) Through the work of God the Holy Spirit He continues to reveal His grace as the means of restoration. (John 16:13)
Adventist Education in its broadest sense is a means of restoring human beings to their original relationship with God for His glory. In partnership together, homes, schools, and churches, cooperate with divine agencies in leading students into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ while also preparing learners to be responsible, productive and constructive citizens in this world and in the world to come. To this end schools actively evangelise students and engage them in the wider mission of the church in anticipation of the second coming of Christ.
Education is core to the mission of the Church. Early Childhood Centers and Schools are intended to be centers of excellence, wholistic, encompassing all that we are as human beings, spiritually, mentally and physically and be part of a continuing lifelong learning process.
Adventist Education seeks to develop in students a life of faith in God and a desire to live as God the Holy Spirit leads for His glory. This education seeks to inspire and instil respect for the dignity of all human beings; to build character akin to that of the Creator; to nurture people to be thinkers rather than mere reflectors of others' thoughts; to promote loving service rather than selfish ambition; to ensure maximum development of each individual's potential; and to embrace all that is true, good, and beautiful. Adventist Education exists to provide high quality education, promoting excellence in learning and in the development of the individual’s physical, mental and spiritual powers.
